Combining Simple Sentences Key

Name ____ Date____

For each question below, choose the multiple that correctly shows the two simple sentences joined with either and or or.

Teacher's Note: Question number 5 has two possible answers. Explain to your students that since the question does not indicate whether only one choice was possible, (the opera or the ballet) there may be cases where "and" is more acceptable than "or." "Did you go to the opera and the ballet?," with the word "and" stressed indicates surprise and disbelief. "Did you go to the opera and the ballet? I can't believe you had time to do both." Where as, the conjunction "or" is used when only one choice is possible. ""Did you go to the opera or the ballet? I know you could not have gone to both."
