| A Class Book
Level: Beginning intermediate to advanced
- construction paper
- glue
- masking tape
- a stapler
- scissors
- crayons
- magazines
Activity: As a class have the students decide on the theme of a book and what topics should be included. Each student brings in pictures from magazines, or personal photos they want included. In groups of two or three, students generate text that will accompany the pictures. Then the students paste the text and pictures on construction paper and the teacher helps them bind it with string. After the process is complete the students will write about the process of creating the book. Once the class book is completed, students may want to make a book of their own, or the class book could be duplicated at a local print shop.
The class book project allows students to relate specific topics covered during the term to their own lives. This can be worked on over the course of two or three weeks or as part of the review toward the end of the term in preparation for the final exam.
