1) lagoon: pool of water surrounded by reefs or sandbars

2) tributary: small stream or river that flows into a larger river

3) delta: triangle shaped area at a rivers mouth, formed of mud and sand deposited by water

4) longitude: East-west direction on the globe that is measured with verticals or meridians

5) equator: 0 degree latitude

6) topographic: A type of map that shows the relief of the land

7) contour lines: Lines that connect points of equal elevation on a map

8) epicenter: the point where the actual rock break occurs during an earthquake

9) harbor: an area of water where ships can dock safely near land

10) plain: flat land

11) ocean: a body of salt water, larger than a sea

12) volcano: an opening in the Earth through which lava, rock, and gases are forced out

13) valley: low land between hills or mountains

14) reef: a ridge of sand, rock or coral that lies at or near the surface of a sea or ocean

15) rapids: a fast moving part of a river

16) swamp: an area of low, wet lands with trees

17) floodplain: flat land that is near the edges of a river and is formed by the silt

18) cape: a point of land that extends into water

19) sea: a body of salt water, smaller than an ocean

20) lake: a body of water with land on all sides

21) range: a chain of mountains

22) canyon: a deep, narrow valley with steep sides

23) mesa: a flat-topped mountain with steep sides

24) waterfall: a steep drop from a high place to a lower place in a stream or river

25) cave: a hollow passage into or under the earth

26) wetlands: areas of land saturated with water

27) foothills: a hilly area at the base of a mountain

28) gap: a low passage through hills or mountains

29) inlet: a narrow passage of water between two bodies of land

30) marsh: a lowland with moist soil and tall grasses

31) peak: the pointed summit of a mountain

32) tributary: a steam of river that empties into a larger river
