John's ESL Community Vocabulary Builder

You can now build your own vocabulary list with John's ESL Community Vocabulary Builder. To build your personalized vocabulary list follow these simple instructions.

Step 1. Choose the number of words to be included in your list. You may have as few as 3 or as many as 15 words per list. If you need more than 15 words, just make more than one list.

Step 2. Enter your name in the appropreate text box.

Step 3. Enter your calss name or class number in the appropreate text box.

Step 4. Enter the English word in the text box that says, Vocabulary Item. This will be in dark letters and will be followed by a number. For example Vocabulary Item 1, is the first word in your list. Vocabulary 2 would be the second word in your list, and so on.

Step 5. Now, in the text box that says, "Vocabulary Item in Your Native Language," enter the word from your native language that has the same meaning as the English word. For example, if the English word is "home" and you are Korean, you would enter the word "Chibae" in the text box that says, "Vocabulary Item in Your Native Language."

Step 6. Now type the word's definition in the area where you see the words "Type the English definition here." You should delete the words "Type the English definition here." when you enter the word's definition. You can use this on-line dictionary to look up the definitions to the words in your vocabulary list.

Step 7. Now, in the next text area, replace the words "Use the word in a sentence." with a sentence using the word in English.

Step 8. Repeat this procedure for each word you would like added to your vocabulary list. When you are finished, click the button that says, "Build My Vocabulary List."

Step 9. Wait while the program builds your vocabulary list. This should not take more than a few seconds.

Step 10. Use the print button on your browser's tool bar to print your list.
